Diploma Level

Course Content and Duration

The Diploma programme of studies in Food & Beverage Service is designed for those students who seek supervisory/management responsibilities. The programme develops specific skills, appropriate to a person preparing for or working in first level management.

The Diploma programme consists of a further one year (two academic semesters) full-time at the Institute.

Entry Criteria

Students who have successfully completed the Food & Beverage Service and Supervisory Studies programmeof studies obtaining a pass in all subjects with an overall 65% average grade, and who have successfully completed a period of twelve months International Internship can progress to the Diploma Level.

FBA 12 - FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE THEORY ADVANCED TECHNICAL SKILLS PRACTICAL

MGA 03 - FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGEMENT

MGA 04 - PRINCIPLES OF HACCP

SLS 10 - HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

MGA 08 - INTERMEDIATE WINES

MGA 05 - GUEST LECTURERS / VISITS

MGA 13 - PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

MGA 01 - CONFERENCE AND BANQUETING MANAGEMENT

MGA 12 - MANAGING WINES AND WINE SALES

Apart from the above modules, the students have to attend a number of Tutorial Sessions throughout that year.

Tutorial Sessions:

Throughout each academic year the students will be asked to attend a number of set tutorial sessions arranged with their assigned tutor.

During these tutorials the student will receive:

  • Career guidance
  • Feedback on academic performance
  • Support in case of poor performance
  • Guidance and support in social and personal development
  • Comments on absenteeism

To obtain the credit value students need to attend their compulsory tutorial sessions. Students are also welcome to attend further tutorial sessions should they or their assigned tutor feel it is necessary.
