In today’s world the important role Science and Technology play in our society cannot be underestimated. In this respect ITS realises the contribute on Science and Technology can make to the Tourism Industry. To this end ITS has set up a Science Centre which will focus its work on the promotion of science and its role in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. Food Science has always been an important part of the Culinary Arts and in its ongoing attempts to modernise its courses and keep up-to-date with the trends abroad, the Institute of Tourism Studies has introduced Food Science as part of the food preparation and service and degree courses curricula. Science is a hands-on subject and to this effect, ITS has invested heavily in a modern Food Science Laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes, multi-media and laboratory equipment. The goal of the ITS Food Science Programme is to provide students with working scientific knowledge of the processes they use and to introduce the broader idea of food and nutrition research at ITS. The Centre is also present on the ITS E-Learning Site with videos and other educational material. Click here to access the page and login as a 'guest'.
