The Centre for Cleaning Science is an ITS centre dedicated to the training and certification in the cleaning industry.
The CCS for lauched after ITS signed a pre-agreement with the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICS), awarding ITS the status of chosen provider of the BICS training and accreditation in Malta.
The pre-agreement was signed by the chairman of ITS Mr Reginald Abela and Mr Terry Brooks, acting National Chair of BICS, on 5th August 2009.
The aim of this centre at ITS is to introduce on a national level, internationally-recognised cleaning procedures with the ultimate aim of enhancing the overall profile and standard of the cleaning industry in Malta.
The Centre for Cleaning Science at ITS will provide a modern, aesthetically appealing and well equipped environment designed to facilitate training that meets the needs of industries that depend on high standards of health and hygiene, such as the hospitality and health sectors.
BICS, which has its headquarters in Northampton, UK, is the largest independent professional and educational body within the cleaning industry. Founded in 1961, its mission is "the raising of status and standards of the cleaning industry, through education".
It is an independent body with members in all areas of the cleaning industry, including Local Authorities, Contract Cleaners, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Trainers and cleaning operatives. Global membership currently stands at almost 5,000 Individual and Corporate Members.
Two ITS lecturers have already obtained the BICS COPC (Cleaning Operator and Proficiency Certificate) level 1 and 2, Train the Trainer and Assessor courses.
